Mechanical Engineer
Invariant Corporation is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team and support upcoming and anticipated defense programs. This full-time opportunity is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals seeking to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the development of innovative mechanical systems. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the design, development, testing, and improvement of a wide range of mechanical systems and components under the mentorship of experienced senior engineers. This position is contingent upon contract award and presents an excellent pathway for professional growth within a collaborative environment.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will have the chance to work on diverse phases of project development, assisting with mechanical design, prototype development, and testing activities. You will also be responsible for drafting technical documentation, participating in design reviews, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance professionals. Your contribution will support the organization’s mission to provide high-quality solutions to complex engineering challenges in the defense sector.
This Mechanical Engineer role requires U.S. citizenship and the successful completion of a background check. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance. The ideal applicant will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, and demonstrate proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD. A foundational understanding of mechanical design principles and materials, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are key attributes for success in this role.
Additional preferred qualifications include hands-on experience with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, injection molding, and 3D printing, as well as exposure to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems or engineering change control platforms. Physical requirements for this position include the ability to sit for extended periods during desk work, meetings, and teleconferences.
