The role of Material Handler is essential to ensuring the smooth operation of logistics and inventory management within a warehouse or manufacturing setting. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the receipt, storage, movement, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. This position requires attention to detail, proficiency with inventory management systems, and the physical ability to handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Material Handlers play a critical role in ensuring that all incoming and outgoing shipments are processed accurately and efficiently. You will be involved in unpacking goods, checking them against purchase orders or invoices, and maintaining detailed records of items received. Items that do not meet quality standards are to be properly documented and rejected, helping to maintain the integrity of our inventory. In addition, you will move materials within the work site, utilizing manual methods or equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts, if appropriately certified. Packing, strapping, and wrapping materials for shipment or storage are also core responsibilities of this role.
In this full-time Material Handler position, you will be expected to perform system transactions using an ERP system, with Oracle experience being especially valuable. Cycle counting activities are a regular part of the job, requiring investigation and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies to support accurate record-keeping and inventory control. Familiarity with MS Excel, including tasks such as filtering, sorting, and performing v-lookups, will enhance your ability to manage inventory data effectively.
Success in the Material Handler role is dependent on strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, analytic approach to problem-solving. Flexibility in start times is important, as shifts may vary according to operational needs. Previous experience in a hi-tech industry and a valid forklift operator certification are preferred, but not always required.
