Market Medical Director (MD/DO) - Summary
- Directly supervises, mentors, and evaluates Clinical Directors within the assigned market.
- Promotes high-quality clinical outcomes, manages P&L objectives, and drives growth and culture across centers.
- Allocates a portion of time to direct patient care, serving as a Primary Care Provider (PCP) and performing clinical duties.
- Leads market-wide initiatives to ensure operational excellence and alignment with organizational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management and accountability for Medical Directors across multiple centers under the guidance of the Regional President.
- Ensures optimal clinical operations and achievement of market performance targets.
- Mentors, coaches, and develops Medical Directors and clinical staff, leading leadership development initiatives and practice improvement activities.
- Fosters a positive, patient-centered culture aligned with the organization’s core values and service standards.
- Collaborates with Clinical Centers of Excellence (COE) on clinical talent lifecycle, recruitment, and onboarding.
- Strengthens relationships with payers, specialists, hospitals, and community partners to enhance center visibility and reputation.
- Monitors market culture, addresses workplace concerns, and supports clinical and operational synergy.
- Reviews and authorizes clinical referrals, supporting utilization management processes.
- Assists with performance improvement initiatives, quality metric analysis, and cost reduction strategies as directed by Regional Leadership.
- Maintains a small patient panel, delivering value-based care to seniors with multiple chronic conditions.
- Participates in ongoing training and leadership development programs, including PCP Black Belt Training and Leadership Pathways.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by management to meet evolving market needs.

Qualifications & Requirements
- MD or DO degree in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or related specialty.
- Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine.
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience required; 3 years preferred.
- Board eligibility required; board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or similar specialty preferred.
- Previous experience as a Medical Director or equivalent role, preferably within Medicare or Medicaid populations.
- Proven track record of clinical leadership and success in population health or chronic disease management.
- Experience with value-based care models, interdisciplinary teams, and quality improvement initiatives is highly desirable.
- Completion of internal leadership training and partnership attainment preferred.
