THE OPPORTUNITYAs a Market Development Representative (MDR), you'll be the frontline force driving SmartAC's growth by identifying, engaging, and partnering with HVAC contractors in your assigned territory. You'll help contractors see the real opportunity in our platformhow it drives customer acquisition, membership conversion, and lifetime retentionand then guide them through implementation to measurable results.
This is a hybrid role combining sales hunting with consultative partnership building. You'll be the trusted SmartAC expert for your contractorseducating them on how to grow their business, celebrating their wins, and serving as their strategic advisor as they scale with our platform.

Comp: Base ($90-$130kyr) + Commission (Uncapped), OTE $200k+
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESContractor Acquisition & Partnership
Identify and prospect HVAC contractors through cold outreach, networking, referrals, and industry events
Articulate the business case: how SmartAC helps contractors acquire customers, convert them to members, and retain them for life
Close new contractor partnerships and guide them through onboarding and initial setup
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth platform implementation and early success
Territory Account Management & Growth
Build and maintain strong relationships with signed contractors and their teams
Conduct regular business reviews and strategic consultations focused on their growth metrics
Help contractors understand and optimize their member acquisition and retention strategies
Organize customer appreciation events, workshops, and engagement campaigns to keep SmartAC top of mind
Manage your assigned territory with travel and on-site visits, balancing new account closes with growth of existing accounts
Field Intelligence & Advocacy
Act as a trusted advisor, helping contractors understand how our platform drives measurable growth
Gather feedback from the field to inform product development and marketing strategy
Report on territory performance, contractor growth metrics, and market insights
Represent contractor needs and feedback to SmartAC leadership
Required:
3+ years of experience in B2B sales, business development, or account management (HVAC, home services, or SaaS preferred)
Proficiency with CRM tools to manage opportunities, document interactions, maintain pipeline visibility, and support sales execution
Strong hunter mentality with genuine passion for building relationships and solving business problems
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Self-starter with a consultative mindsetyou know how to make complex technology accessible and tie it to real business outcomes
Ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix organization
Willingness to travel within your territory for prospecting, account visits, and industry events
