The Manufacturing Equipment Engineer plays a critical role in supporting and optimizing the performance, reliability, and efficiency of manufacturing equipment in a high-volume production environment. This full-time position is designed for professionals passionate about leading the full equipment lifecycle, from initial specification and installation to ongoing optimization and support. The Manufacturing Equipment Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure all machinery operates at peak performance, supporting both immediate production needs and long-term business growth.
Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Automation, Quality, and external partners, the Manufacturing Equipment Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting complex equipment issues, implementing robust solutions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a combination of analytical skills, creative problem-solving, and technical expertise to ensure manufacturing processes remain safe, reliable, and cost-effective. Manufacturing Equipment Engineer - Summary
- Lead and support the lifecycle of manufacturing equipment, from design and installation to optimization and ongoing maintenance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the performance, safety, and reliability of all equipment.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve equipment uptime, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment issues and implement effective, long-term solutions.
- Drive initiatives to improve uptime, throughput, and OEE.
- Support root cause analysis for equipment failures and production losses.
- Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Design and implement equipment upgrades and modifications to enhance safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Evaluate equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Support process and equipment capability assessments to ensure optimal operation.
- Develop detailed specifications and technical requirements for new equipment purchases and upgrades.
- Assist with supplier selection and procurement of equipment and tooling.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and qualification of equipment, including FAT/SAT.
- Contribute to layout planning and capacity expansion projects to support company growth.
- Ensure seamless transition of new equipment into production environments.
- Establish and maintain tooling standards and best practices in line with industry guidelines.
- Coordinate tooling design, sourcing, and manage lifecycle activities.
- Oversee spare parts and critical tooling inventories to support continuous operations.
- Ensure tooling is aligned with process capability and quality standards.
- Maintain productive relationships with equipment suppliers, contractors, and system integrators.
- Review technical proposals and project deliverables from external partners.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and EHS teams to ensure reliable and safe equipment function.
- Provide technical training and support knowledge transfer within the organization.
- Maintain accurate equipment documentation, procedures, and records for compliance and operational purposes.
- Ensure adherence to all safety and regulatory requirements in manufacturing activities.
- Support audits and participate in safety reviews as required.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
- Three to seven years of experience in manufacturing, equipment, or tooling engineering.
- Proven experience working within high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Experience with equipment installation, startup, and optimization.
- Preferred: Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- Preferred: Experience in automotive or advanced manufacturing sectors.
- Preferred: Familiarity with automated systems and controls.
- Preferred: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Ability to travel up to 10% as required for project or supplier meetings.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
