Manufacturing Engineer Job Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production, high product quality, and cost-effective operations. This full-time position is responsible for supporting daily production schedules, enhancing productivity, and ensuring that all manufacturing processes align with product specifications and quality standards. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Research & Development teams to develop new products, implement process improvements, and maintain best practices in manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support manufacturing processes for new and existing products, focusing on product changes, enhancements, and related tooling and fixtures to achieve zero-defect manufacturing and low production costs.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and R&D teams to ensure manufacturing methods meet product specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for processes, manufacturing procedures, material records, design concepts, tool and fixture drawings, and shop orders.
- Provide troubleshooting and technical assistance to resolve issues encountered by production departments, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining or improving quality and productivity.
- Assist engineering and product development staff to ensure products under development are optimized for manufacturability and address any manufacturing issues early in the process.
- Write and update assembly and manufacturing travelers to guide production processes and ensure accurate workflow documentation.
- Complete preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and tooling to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
- Report job status and escalate challenges to relevant stakeholders to maintain transparency and facilitate timely resolutions.
- Train production staff and other employees on methods, tooling, and procedures for product assembly or fabrication to maintain consistent standards and quality.
- Support and uphold company goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and good manufacturing practices, as well as applicable regulations.
- Maintain high standards of quality with minimal discrepant work, ensuring all products meet or exceed established benchmarks.
- Perform assigned tasks to or above established standards and demonstrate adaptability in responding to changing priorities and requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of AS9100 and ISO policies, procedures, and directives to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
- Conduct oneself in a professional and respectful manner in all business interactions.
Qualifications
- Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, and quality assurance standards.
- Experience with process documentation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Quality Assurance, and R&D.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and training skills.
- Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO standards is preferred.
- Attention to detail, adaptability, and commitment to continuous improvement.
