The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all machinery and equipment within a commercial laundry plant. This position is responsible for conducting both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks on a variety of production equipment, with a focus on minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be tasked with performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing emergent issues, and collaborating with both internal teams and external vendors to resolve complex technical challenges. The Maintenance Technician works closely with production supervisors and engineering personnel to maintain high operational standards and ensure compliance with all safety protocols. This full-time opportunity offers a dynamic work environment where attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to workplace safety are highly valued. Working as a Maintenance Technician provides a chance to develop advanced technical skills while contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the plant's operations.
As a Maintenance Technician, your primary responsibility is to maintain awareness of all assigned equipment during production operations, ensuring that each piece of machinery operates at optimal efficiency. You will be required to identify and correct issues such as equipment jams, malfunctioning or missing belts, and missing ironer tape, while also seeking technical assistance from the engineering department as needed. Preventive maintenance is a core component of the role, requiring you to adhere to scheduled maintenance activities, address emergent repair needs promptly, and maintain detailed records of all maintenance tasks and outstanding issues within a maintenance log. The Maintenance Technician must be adept at communicating with production supervisors, providing timely updates on the status of equipment that could impact production or cause downtime, and notifying them when machinery is back online.
Collaboration is also key in this role, as the Maintenance Technician assists technical and mechanical personnel, including outside vendors, in troubleshooting and repairing equipment. This position requires a thorough understanding of safety procedures such as lockout/tag out, confined space entry, and working safely on hot equipment. Additionally, maintaining a clean and safe work area is essential to protect both yourself and your colleagues. The Maintenance Technician should possess a strong working knowledge of mechanical drive systems, conveyor systems, and overhead rail systems, and be capable of supporting repairs and maintenance on all such equipment as needed.
Success in this role depends on a team-oriented approach, self-motivation, promptness, and the ability to operate independently when required. Strong communication skills are essential for effective coordination and reporting within the maintenance and production teams. The Maintenance Technician will also be expected to go the extra mile to ensure the highest standards of operational efficiency and safety are consistently met within the plant. If you are detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about equipment maintenance, this position offers a rewarding career path with opportunities for professional growth.
