The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of all equipment within a commercial laundry plant environment. This full-time position is key to maintaining the reliability and efficiency of production machinery by performing both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for preventing equipment downtime through proactive preventive maintenance and responding quickly to emergent repairs. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, a commitment to workplace safety, and an ability to collaborate with team members and external vendors.
Throughout each shift, the Maintenance Technician is expected to monitor the assigned equipment closely, addressing any issues such as jams, missing or damaged belts, or missing ironer tape. By keeping detailed maintenance logs and communicating effectively with production supervisors, the Maintenance Technician contributes to optimized plant operations and minimized unplanned downtime. When more advanced technical support is required, the Maintenance Technician will collaborate with the engineering team to resolve complex issues and maintain operational standards.
This role also demands a high level of self-motivation and initiative, as the Maintenance Technician must manage daily responsibilities independently or as part of a team, ensuring all safety procedures are strictly followed. Maintenance Technician - Summary
- Responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of commercial laundry plant equipment
- Executes preventive maintenance and emergent repairs to ensure minimal downtime
- Maintains equipment logs and communicates status updates to supervisors
- Collaborates with engineering and external vendors as needed
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on all assigned machinery and equipment
- Quickly address issues such as jams, damaged or missing belts, and missing ironer tape
- Complete timely and high-quality repairs on equipment, including overhead rail and conveyor systems
- Assist technical and mechanical personnel, including outside vendors, during repairs or installations
- Log all ongoing maintenance tasks and newly identified problems in the maintenance record system
- Inform Production Supervisors promptly regarding any equipment status that could impact production or cause downtime, and report when equipment is back online
- Follow all plant safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and confined space entry protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
- Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by management

Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of commercial machinery
- Experience in maintaining and repairing mechanical drive, conveyor, and overhead rail systems
- Ability to operate standard tools and equipment safely and effectively
- Understanding and adherence to workplace safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and confined space entry
- Excellent communication skills for logging maintenance and updating supervisors
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when necessary
- Self-motivated, prompt, and able to handle time-sensitive tasks as they arise
