Mailroom Operator - Summary
The Mailroom Operator is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate handling, sorting, and distribution of mail and packages. This role involves operating mail sorting systems, managing shipping processes, performing mailroom audits, and collaborating closely with management to address and resolve delivery issues. The Mailroom Operator must be able to perform physical tasks, such as lifting and moving packages, and maintain detailed records for mail processing activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure proper functionality of conveyor systems connected to the mail sorting system.
- Place orders in EMM trays, prepare orders for shipping, and ensure they are ready for timely dispatch.
- Package expedited orders into expedited envelopes for delivery, following established protocols.
- Review primary mail sorts to identify ongoing activity changes and ensure accuracy in sorting processes.
- Complete routine mailroom audits to maintain accuracy and compliance with mailing standards.
- Match multiple quantity orders and efficiently prepare them for outbound shipping.
- Label packages accurately for delivery vendors and coordinate the movement of Gaylords and pallets using a hand jack.
- Move pallets upon the arrival of shipping carriers, such as FedEx, into trailers for outgoing delivery using appropriate equipment.
- Generate, review, and submit mailroom reports and necessary paperwork as required.
- Work collaboratively with management to identify and resolve delivery delays or issues as they arise.
- Perform other mailroom-related duties as assigned to support overall operations.
Salary & Benefits

Qualifications & Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks, including pushing and pulling a pallet jack.
- Required to stand and work for the duration of a 12-hour shift.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, including every other weekend.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow established procedures for mail handling and shipping.
