Mail Inserter Operator - Summary
- Responsible for operating automated machines that insert printed materials, such as letters or booklets, into envelopes or folders for USPS mailings.
- Supports production workflows by preparing, loading, and maintaining inserting equipment to meet mailing requirements.
- Ensures compliance with company quality policies and participates in ongoing quality management activities.
- Works collaboratively with other production staff to resolve issues and achieve group productivity goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and adjust inserter machines prior to production, verifying all configurations to meet job specifications.
- Load machine pockets with appropriate quantities of inserts, letters, or booklets, and adjust feeder mechanisms as needed based on material thickness.
- Monitor machine operations, replenish materials as needed, and maintain the workflow throughout production shifts.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines related to mail inserting and assist mechanics in identifying and troubleshooting equipment problems.
- Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that equipment is kept in optimal working condition.
- Complete required daily maintenance paperwork and report machine malfunctions or needs for replacement parts to supervisors or mechanics.
- Train new and less experienced operators in machine operation and safety procedures as needed.
- Monitor adherence to USPS postal requirements for presort mail and documentation, contributing to mailing accuracy and compliance.
- Adhere to all safety practices and participate in the company’s Quality Management System.
- Lifting up to 40 pounds and standing for prolonged periods is required for this role.
