The Logistics Manager plays a vital role in overseeing the comprehensive shipping and receiving operations within a manufacturing environment. Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee and supervise all shipping and receiving activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the handling of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Compare and verify identifying information, count, weigh, or measure items in shipments to validate records against bills of lading, invoices, and orders.
- Determine the most suitable shipping methods for outgoing products and materials.
- Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencil identifying information on containers as required.
- Select and assemble wooden or cardboard containers or utilize preassembled containers for shipments.
- Insert items into containers, secure covers on crates, and bind containers with metal tape for safe transit.
- Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers for accurate delivery.
- Calculate and post weights and shipping charges, ensuring correct affixing of postage for outgoing shipments.
- Unpack and inspect incoming shipments for damage or shortages, documenting any discrepancies and corresponding with shippers to resolve issues.
- Route items to appropriate departments or storage locations within the facility.
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet established qualifications and standards.
- Maintain an organized inventory of shipping materials and supplies, reordering as necessary to prevent shortages.
- Operate forklifts, tier lift trucks, or hand trucks to move and convey shipments efficiently between receiving platforms, storage, and work areas.
- Prepare and complete all relevant shipping and receiving documentation, including management reports.

Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with direct involvement in shipping and receiving operations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of commercial package services, such as UPS, FedEx, and DHL.
- Experience interacting with commercial shipping carriers and handling logistics documentation.
- Proficiency in basic mathematics for calculating weights, shipping charges, and inventory management.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers and demonstrate strong customer contact skills.
- Computer literacy, including the ability to navigate shipping management software and standard office applications.
- Ability to read and comprehend documentation written in English, with strong written communication skills.
