The Linen Distribution Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the seamless operation of hospital linen services by ensuring that all linen carts are fully stocked and ready for use in various departments. This position requires strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to upholding safety, cleanliness, and customer service standards. The Linen Distribution Technician works as part of a dedicated team responsible for the timely delivery and retrieval of both clean and soiled linens, contributing directly to the overall efficiency and hygiene of hospital operations.
As a Linen Distribution Technician, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of managing linen inventory throughout the hospital. This includes careful counting and recording of terry and linen items to ensure that all departments have access to the supplies they need. You will regularly interact with hospital staff, responding promptly to requests and ensuring that all orders are filled accurately and efficiently. Your ability to push and pull heavy carts, sometimes weighing up to 650 lbs., is essential for the successful completion of your daily tasks.
The role involves strict adherence to all company policies and procedures, including those outlined in the employee handbook, as well as established attendance policies. Maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor is vital, as you serve as a representative of the linen services team. The Linen Distribution Technician is expected to clock in and out within the designated time frames and communicate promptly with management regarding any absences.
Safety is a top priority in this position. You will be expected to follow all safety protocols, including universal precautions and procedures designed to protect both yourself and others. Keeping company equipment clean and organized is part of your daily responsibilities, as is the regular cleaning of the linen room, which may involve sweeping, mopping, and picking up debris as necessary. You will also be responsible for opening new linen for processing and aligning or staging carts to meet operational needs.
In addition to routine duties, the Linen Distribution Technician must be proactive in identifying and reporting any issues related to customer service or satisfaction. A courteous and professional attitude is essential at all times, as you will be interacting with a diverse group of hospital staff and possibly patients. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure that linen services are available whenever they are needed.
Success in this role requires the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and move heavy, wheeled linen carts throughout the hospital. Passing a background check is a mandatory requirement for employment in this position.
