The Linen Distribution Technician plays a vital role in maintaining the efficient flow of clean linen throughout the facility. This full-time opportunity is located at Advocate South Suburban Medical Center and involves working the morning shift with potential rotating weekends. As a Linen Distribution Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring that all departments within the medical center have the necessary clean linen supplies, as well as collecting soiled linens for proper processing. Your work will directly support patient care and the smooth operation of healthcare services at Advocate South Suburban Medical Center.
In this position, you will deliver clean linen to various hospital departments on a scheduled basis. Your responsibilities will include picking up soiled carts from all floors, particularly if assigned to the second shift, and efficiently handling orders from hospital staff. Attention to detail is crucial, as you will ensure all exchange carts reach their designated floors and verify that all soiled linen is collected and transported to the receiving dock for processing. Monitoring the fullness of soil carts and consolidating them when necessary is also part of the role, contributing to the organization and cleanliness of the linen room and storage areas.
As a Linen Distribution Technician, you will be expected to report any issues or concerns to your supervisor promptly, ensuring smooth communication and rapid problem resolution. Maintaining a neat and organized linen room at the end of each shift is essential. You will also be responsible for building clean, organized carts according to standard par levels, performing routine cleaning tasks within the linen room, including sweeping and mopping as needed, and aligning or staging carts for the next shift. Your ability to perform other assigned duties will ensure the ongoing success of the linen distribution process.
This role requires strong physical ability, as you must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull carts weighing up to 650 pounds. Accurate counting and inventory recording skills are necessary to keep track of terry and linen supplies. Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills are also essential, as you will interact with hospital staff and respond to their linen needs efficiently.
