This school nurse LPN role is essential in ensuring the student’s well-being and safety during the school day and throughout transportation to and from school, with services beginning during the Extended School Year (ESY) and the potential to extend into a full-time role for the upcoming academic year.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - School Nurse will be responsible for delivering personalized care, including diabetes management, seizure monitoring, and autism-related support. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on a student's academic journey and health by delivering expert nursing care and supporting the student’s participation in school activities.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - School Nurse, you will accompany the student on the school bus daily. The time spent in transportation is fully compensated and included in your paid hours, providing a seamless experience for both the student and the nurse. This role is vital in maintaining the continuity of care and safety from home to school and back.
The initial schedule for the ESY runs from June 15, 2026, to July 30, 2026, with approximately 5 hours of work per day, Monday through Thursday. The daily routine includes a morning bus pickup and an afternoon drop-off, covering the full period the student is in transit and at school. Paid transportation time is a key benefit, ensuring all hours worked are recognized and compensated.
For candidates who excel in the ESY period, there is an opportunity to transition into a full-time role for the regular school year, with a schedule of approximately 37.5 hours per week. The full-time schedule involves bus pickup and drop-off, and paid transportation time continues to be included. This continuity supports both the student’s needs and the nurse’s professional development in a school environment.
