Licensed Practical Nurse LPN – School Nurse Summary- Direct 1:1 nursing care for an elementary student with complex health needs
- Support provided throughout the entire school day and during daily transportation
- Collaborative work within a school setting, following individualized care plans
- Opportunity to use specialized nursing skills in a pediatric educational environment
- Deliver continuous and attentive 1:1 nursing care to a medically fragile student
- Monitor and manage G-tube feedings, ensuring safe and timely nutrition delivery
- Provide expert tracheostomy (trach) care, including suctioning and monitoring airway stability
- Observe for seizure activity and implement appropriate response protocols as needed
- Assist with all activities of daily living (ADLs) such as feeding, hygiene, mobility, and toileting, due to full student dependence
- Ride the school bus or van with the student to and from home each day, with transportation time being compensated
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with school staff, teachers, and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal implementation of individualized care plans
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and student health status during school and transit hours
