We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to serve as a School Nurse in a 1:1 capacity for a student in the Jackson, GA area. This full-time opportunity is available for the upcoming school year, commencing in early August or during the last week of July. The Licensed Practical Nurse LPN – School Nurse will play a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of a student throughout the entire school day, including accompanying the student on transportation to and from school. The Licensed Practical Nurse LPN – School Nurse position offers a structured schedule, working Monday through Friday, and requires a commitment of approximately 37.5 to 40 hours per week. Transportation time, including riding the bus or van with the student, is included as paid work hours, recognizing the importance of continuity of care during the student’s daily commute. As part of the school’s health services team, you will collaborate with educational staff, families, and healthcare providers to implement individualized healthcare plans and maintain adherence to Department of Health (DoH) policies and protocols.
The Licensed Practical Nurse LPN – School Nurse’s responsibilities encompass a wide range of clinical and administrative tasks, including conducting physical assessments, delivering direct clinical care, managing health records, and administering medications. Additionally, the LPN will be responsible for providing first aid to both students and staff, training school personnel on first aid, CPR, and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and ensuring timely referrals for students requiring further medical attention. The position requires strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, as well as the ability to multitask, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate proficiency with computers and health record systems.
