Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – School Nurse Summary
- Provide 1:1 nursing care and support for a student with specific medical and developmental needs within a school-based ESY program.
- Monitor and manage the student’s health conditions, including gluten allergy and infrequent seizures.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive environment to support student participation in daily school activities.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver direct, individualized nursing care to the assigned student throughout the school day, ensuring their safety, health, and well-being at all times.
- Monitor for signs of gluten allergy exposure and respond promptly to any allergic reactions according to established protocols.
- Observe for and respond to any seizure activity, providing appropriate care and communication with school staff and emergency services if necessary.
- Assist with the student’s participation in educational and social activities, promoting engagement and inclusion.
- Maintain accurate and timely health records, documenting observations, interventions, and any incidents as required.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, school staff, and parents/guardians to ensure coordinated care for the student.
- Follow all school policies, procedures, and state regulations pertaining to student health and safety.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Pennsylvania.
- Experience in pediatric, school-based, or special needs nursing preferred.
- Knowledgeable and comfortable working with children with autism and other developmental needs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and respond to allergic reactions and seizure activity.
- Must obtain and maintain all required Pennsylvania state clearances for school employment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
