As a Licensed Practical Nurse LPN – School Nurse, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and comfort of a student requiring specialized medical attention. The position is available for immediate start and continues through the current school year and Extended School Year (ESY) program, with a strong potential for continuation into future academic years. The school nurse will work a consistent, full-time schedule, accompanying the student on the bus from home to school and back each day. Transportation time is fully compensated, providing a stable and predictable work routine. Your expertise will be vital in monitoring and supporting the student's medical needs throughout the school day, including during transitions and transportation, ensuring seamless and attentive care at all times.
The student requires comprehensive care, including but not limited to:
- Seizure monitoring and timely intervention as needed
- G-tube management and feeding support
- Support for cerebral palsy and related mobility challenges
- Incontinence support and hygiene care
- Facilitation of non-verbal communication methods
- Complex medical condition management, including d-bifunctional disease
- Wheelchair assistance and manual transfers (two-person assist required)
Your clinical skills and compassion will ensure the student’s health, comfort, and inclusion in the school environment. The school nurse LPN will work closely with educational team members, therapists, and the student’s family to coordinate and implement the care plan, adapting to the student’s evolving needs and supporting their educational experience.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Active and unencumbered Pennsylvania LPN license
- Experience with pediatric populations and/or medically complex individuals is preferred
- Comfortable with hands-on care, mobility support, and manual transfers
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required Pennsylvania clearances
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
