Venipuncture and phlebotomy are key clinical tasks, as is medication reconciliation—verifying and updating patient medication lists to promote safety and continuity of care. The LPN or CMA regularly assists healthcare providers during examinations and medical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are prepared and that patients feel comfortable and informed.
Administrative responsibilities are also an important aspect of this role. The LPN or CMA manages incoming and outgoing phone communications, which involves answering calls, taking detailed and accurate messages, and reaching out to patients to provide information or follow up on care instructions.
