Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Summary
- Deliver direct patient care and support medical readiness for military and veteran populations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including Squadron Flight Surgeons and support staff.
- Ensure medical clearance and compliance with military medical standards.
- Assist with operational medicine programs and maintain accurate medical records.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to diverse patient populations, including SW students, Airmen, and Army personnel.
- Conduct portions of Preventive Periodic Health Assessments (PHAs) and coordinate relevant laboratory services.
- Review and process medical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Support submission of medical waivers and creation of waiver materials when needed.
- Maintain and update electronic medical records and use medical readiness tracking systems.
- Prepare and administer prescribed medications via oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, or intravenous routes, following established protocols.
- Monitor and respond to urgent or emergent patient care situations, and initiate emergency interventions as directed.
- Assist with complex diagnostic procedures, including patient preparation, equipment handling, and post-procedure monitoring.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, checking in patients, recording vital signs, and maintaining regular status reports.
- Orient and support peers and ancillary staff in adherence to unit policies, procedures, and standards.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited practical or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate state agency.
- Minimum required education: Certificate in Practical Nursing or Vocational Nursing.
- Nursing program must be accredited by the Commission on Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) or an equivalent recognized body.
- Current, active, unrestricted Practical Nurse (LPN) or Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in good standing, with no stipulations or pending adverse actions.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- At least one year of practical or vocational nursing experience post-graduation is required.
- Experience in military medicine, flight medicine, occupational health, preventive health, or outpatient settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and medical readiness tracking systems is highly desirable.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
