As the Laboratory Operations Director, you will report directly to the VP of Lab Operations. In this position, you will be responsible for both the technical and scientific direction of laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards from CAP, federal, and state agencies. You will manage budgetary objectives, oversee multi-site operations, and guide laboratory teams in delivering efficient, accurate, and compliant testing services. Your leadership will influence not only day-to-day activities but also strategic planning, process improvement, and the ongoing professional development of clinical laboratory staff.
The Laboratory Operations Director is entrusted with ensuring that all policies and procedures are kept current with applicable regulations, and that the laboratory meets or exceeds benchmarks for quality assurance and patient safety. - Leadership position reporting to the VP of Lab Operations
- Responsible for regulatory compliance, staff development, and strategic planning

- Direct day-to-day technical and scientific laboratory operations
- Maintain full compliance with CAP, federal, and state regulations governing clinical laboratories
- Oversee operational and strategic objectives, ensuring laboratory goals are met
- Manage laboratory budgets, monitor productivity, and implement cost-saving measures
- Utilize data-driven decision making for capital and resource allocation
- Standardize and update laboratory policies and procedures
- Facilitate cross-departmental and inter-shift communication
- Lead development and expansion of service lines and long-term projects
- Mentor and develop laboratory leaders, fostering bench strength and succession planning
- Implement and maintain robust quality control and quality assurance programs
- Ensure excellent customer service for both internal and external stakeholders
- Promptly resolve operational and customer issues to maintain high satisfaction levels

- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related sciences required
- Valid practitioner and supervisor licenses, with multi-state licensure necessary
- Medical technologist registry (ASCP, AMT, AAB, or equivalent) required
- Demonstrated success in leading large teams within high-volume laboratory settings
- Experience managing technical or platform transitions across multiple sites
- In-depth knowledge of CAP, federal, and state clinical lab regulations
