Labor and Delivery RN - Summary
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in labor, delivery, and postpartum units.
- Support patients with diverse needs, including those requiring specialized COVID-19 care.
- Maintain a commitment to evidence-based practice, safety, and compassionate patient advocacy.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, midwives, and allied health professionals to promote optimal outcomes for mothers and infants.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor, assess, and document maternal and fetal well-being throughout labor and delivery using advanced charting systems such as EPIC.
- Administer medications, perform interventions, and provide direct bedside care during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period.
- Conduct and assist with vaginal examinations, postpartum assessments, and newborn care procedures.
- Educate patients and families on childbirth, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
- Maintain strict infection control protocols, especially when caring for COVID-19 positive patients.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, utilizing ACLS, NRP, and BLS training as needed.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Document all care provided accurately and efficiently in the EPIC system.
- Wear professional navy or royal blue scrubs in accordance with hospital policy.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- BSN degree preferred.
- Prior experience in labor and delivery, postpartum care, and vaginal examinations highly desirable.
- Proficiency with the EPIC electronic health record system.
- Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Preferred: Basic or AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
