Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Labor and Delivery RN - Summary
- Provide direct patient care for women and newborns during labor, delivery, and recovery stages.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and allied healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain a safe and respectful environment for patients and their families.
- Utilize advanced nursing skills in a high-acuity setting, including postpartum care and fetal monitoring.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
- Administer medications and intravenous therapies as prescribed by the medical team.
- Perform and assist with vaginal examinations, labor support, and delivery procedures.
- Document patient care and outcomes accurately using the EPIC electronic health record system.
- Educate patients and families about labor, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn health.
- Respond rapidly and effectively to emergencies or changes in patient condition.
- Implement infection control standards, including protocols for COVID-19 positive patients.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to care planning.
- Maintain professional attire, specifically navy or royal blue scrubs, in accordance with facility guidelines.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
- Prior experience in labor and delivery and postpartum care strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with the EPIC charting system required.
- Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Preferred: Basic or AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
