As a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (LDRP RN), you will provide holistic, patient-centered care to women and newborns throughout the labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum continuum. Working within military medical facilities, you will utilize your clinical expertise to ensure safety, comfort, and positive outcomes for patients and families. Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (LDRP RN) - Summary
The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (LDRP RN) is responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based nursing care within the labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum units. This role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, adhering to established protocols, and delivering compassionate care to women and infants. The position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of clinical practice. Serving at military medical facilities, you will be integral to maintaining the health and readiness of America’s service members and their families.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor triage patients, including continuous fetal monitoring, assessments for spontaneous rupture of membranes, labor checks, prolonged monitoring, evaluation of pre-term labor, decreased fetal movement, and pre-eclampsia.
- Conduct ongoing monitoring of patients, including vital signs, cervical examinations, and labor progression assessments.
- Administer and manage intravenous therapies such as fluids, Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antibiotics, blood products, and pain management interventions.
- Monitor patient status during epidural infusions and intravenous narcotic administration, and provide emotional support to patients and families.
- Assist healthcare providers with labor inductions, including cervical ripening, artificial rupture of membranes, and Pitocin administration.
- Support providers during vaginal and operative deliveries, including pushing, delivery, recovery, and the use of vacuum or forceps as indicated.
- Perform pre-operative procedures for Cesarean-sections (C-sections), including shave preparation, Foley catheter placement, intravenous boluses, and emotional support.
- Facilitate the transition of normal newborns by providing baths, administering shots, conducting assessments, and assisting with breastfeeding.
- Stabilize and prepare high-risk patients for transport, employing appropriate medications and providing emotional support as necessary.
- Deliver patient and family education regarding postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn safety.
- Act as circulating nurse during C-section procedures in the operating room and offer breastfeeding education and support post-delivery.
- Document all patient care activities, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly in electronic medical records, in accordance with facility standards.
- Provide family-centered nursing care to infants and women of childbearing age, ensuring a respectful and culturally sensitive approach.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in one of the 50 US states or territories.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) or Labor & Delivery setting, with no more than 12 months since last assignment in this specialty.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider-Advanced (NRP) certification preferred.
- US Citizenship required.

Other Relevant Information
- Work schedule is typically from 7:15am to 6:45pm, with coverage possible any day of the week, including weekends and Federal Holidays.
