Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) - Summary
- Deliver specialized nursing care to pregnant, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best maternal and neonatal outcomes.
- Support mothers and newborns throughout the labor, birth, and immediate postpartum experience.
- Serve as a valued member of a team committed to supporting service members, veterans, and their families.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive assessment and care for pregnant patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
- Administer complex treatments, including IV push medications, and monitor both invasive and non-invasive equipment.
- Interpret and evaluate patient progress, including fluid balance, laboratory data, and fetal monitoring results.
- Deliver intraoperative care as a circulating nurse for obstetric surgical procedures.
- Manage immediate postoperative (post-anesthesia) care for obstetric patients.
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot specialized therapeutic, monitoring, and resuscitative equipment.
- Coordinate patient census and acuity, delegate staff assignments, and ensure efficient workflow within the unit.
- Provide antepartum care for patients generally greater than 18 weeks gestation.
- Deliver transitional care for neonates and support mother-baby couplet care.
- Maintain current knowledge of high-risk obstetrics and evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Float within similar specialties as required to support patient care needs.

- Work-life balance supported by a flexible scheduling structure, including 4, 8, or 12-hour shifts based on unit needs, with a maximum of 40 hours per week.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree or higher.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in one of the 50 US states or territories.
- Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience, preferably in labor and delivery or related specialties.
- Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Life Support (ALS), STABLE, and Fetal Monitoring Certification.
- Strong working knowledge of intraoperative care, postpartum care, and the transitional care of neonates.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
