Kitchen Manager Position Overview
The Kitchen Manager position is a key leadership role within our casual dining restaurant, responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring a seamless culinary experience for guests. As a Kitchen Manager, you will be accountable for supervising kitchen staff, maintaining food quality, and upholding the highest safety and sanitation standards. Responsibilities
- Kitchen Operations: Supervise all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and cleanliness. Ensure that all dishes consistently meet established quality standards, are prepared efficiently, and adhere to recipes and portion guidelines.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and prep personnel. Promote a cooperative work environment, encourage effective communication, and provide continuous training and development opportunities to enhance team performance.
- Food Quality and Safety: Uphold high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency. Enforce strict compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation procedures. Conduct regular inspections of the kitchen and implement corrective actions as needed to guarantee food safety and cleanliness.
- Inventory and Cost Control: Manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient supply while minimizing waste. Apply portion control practices and collaborate with management to set and monitor kitchen budgets, optimize food costs, and enhance kitchen efficiency.
- Staff Training and Development: Train kitchen staff on cooking techniques, proper plating, and compliance with recipes and quality standards. Foster an environment of continuous learning and skill development.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all kitchen activities comply with health and safety regulations, including food handling, sanitation, and workplace safety standards. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to compliance and inspections.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Kitchen Manager in a full-service casual dining restaurant environment.
- Strong culinary skills and thorough knowledge of kitchen operations.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities with a focus on training and staff development.
- Comprehensive understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with inventory management and cost control practices.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the restaurant’s schedule.
