The Janitor plays a vital role in maintaining clean, safe, and orderly environments within various facilities. Janitors are entrusted with heavy cleaning duties, including but not limited to cleaning floors, shampooing carpets, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish in accordance with approved procedures and infection control plans. The role also involves sanitizing all surfaces to minimize the risk of contamination and contribute to a hygienic environment. By following established eight-step cleaning procedures and compliance with federal, state, and county guidelines, Janitors ensure that all assigned areas are consistently maintained to the highest standards.
In this position, Janitors are also responsible for moving furniture and equipment as necessary to provide thorough cleaning. After cleaning, it is crucial to return all items to their correct placement, ensuring that the area remains organized and accessible. Janitors are proactive in identifying areas that require attention, demonstrating initiative by addressing issues as they arise and completing all tasks assigned by their supervisor. - Collect and dispose of trash in accordance with approved procedures and infection control protocols.
- Dust and damp mop floors using approved cleaning methods.
- Move equipment and furniture to facilitate thorough cleaning, returning items to their original placement upon completion.
- Clean assigned areas using appropriate materials and equipment.
- Sanitize all surfaces as part of routine and deep cleaning schedules.
- Follow the eight-step cleaning procedure for consistency and quality assurance.
- Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other surfaces to maintain cleanliness and safety.
- Proactively identify and address areas requiring cleaning—take initiative to maintain high standards.
- Complete all tasks assigned by the supervisor promptly and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and county cleaning and safety guidelines.
- Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors; shampoo carpets as needed.
