IT Support Engineer (MSP) Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Support Engineer (MSP) for a full-time role in Boise, ID. This position is with a leading Managed Services Provider (MSP) company that delivers comprehensive IT solutions to a diverse client base. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical support and managed services, with proven expertise in client-facing environments. As an IT Support Engineer (MSP), you will utilize your technical acumen and communication skills to deliver exceptional service and innovative solutions that enable clients to achieve their business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales teams to provide both pre- and post-sales technical support, including attending discovery meetings, conducting site visits, preparing proposals and presentations, performing technical assessments, implementing solutions, and managing ongoing technical account relationships.
- Architect, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, managed switches, and firewalls, with a focus on implementing and monitoring network security best practices.
- Deploy and manage Windows Servers, Active Directory, and Exchange Server environments to ensure optimal performance and reliability for client organizations.
- Design and maintain Local Area Networks (LANs), optimizing both software and hardware components for efficiency and scalability.
- Build and deploy file servers and develop cloud computing solutions tailored to client needs.
- Configure, implement, and manage Voice over IP (VoIP) solutions, ensuring seamless communication systems for clients.
- Troubleshoot network infrastructure and provide prompt resolution to escalated service requests requiring advanced technical expertise.
- Monitor alert systems and respond appropriately as per company guidelines to maintain the integrity and performance of client systems.
- Facilitate new user onboarding, ensuring smooth transitions and comprehensive technical support for end-users.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing networking equipment, Windows servers and workstations, Exchange server, and Active Directory within an MSP or similar IT services environment.
- At least 3 years of experience working in client-facing roles such as sales engineering, demonstrating strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with business clients to understand and address their technology challenges.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Experience in drafting technical proposals and implementing solutions to meet specific business needs.
- Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, self-motivation, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
- Firm understanding of business productivity systems and technology solutions commonly used in professional environments.
- Familiarity with RMM (Remote Monitoring and Management) tools such as Kaseya or ConnectWise is highly desirable.
- Experience with PSA (Professional Services Automation) or ticketing systems such as Autotask or ConnectWise is a plus.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, customer service mindset, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Sales training or experience is beneficial but not required.
- Experience working in an MSP environment is strongly preferred.
Preferred Certifications (Not Required)
- CompTIA Network+ and/or CompTIA Security+ certifications.
- MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator), MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer or Solutions Expert), or MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional).
- Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCIE are highly regarded.
