Inventory Manager
Invariant Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Inventory Manager to lead the design, implementation, and execution of a robust Inventory Management System. This role is critical to supporting over $50M in annual material acquisition, production, and delivery, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and organizational success. As an Inventory Manager, you will play a key role in establishing processes, standards, and controls that enable a fast-paced, execution-focused environment. This full-time opportunity offers a chance to make a significant impact on organizational operations and material management practices.
The Inventory Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive inventory and material management system from the ground up. This includes creating and formalizing processes to support compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) requirements, ensuring full accountability, traceability, audit readiness, and alignment of government and contractor-managed materials. You will oversee the entire material flow lifecycle, including demand generation, procurement, receipt, storage, traceability, issuance, consumption, and the stocking of finished goods.
In this position, you will design durable systems that foster real accountability, eliminate ambiguity, and enable rapid, accurate decision-making across operational, production, and program management functions. The Inventory Manager will establish foundational data architecture for the inventory environment, including item master strategies, part numbering conventions, material classifications, location hierarchies, stock status, and traceability logic. Continuous improvement is a core expectation, requiring you to proactively identify process gaps, operational friction, and failure points, and take decisive action to implement solutions that simplify workflows, reduce material loss, improve operational speed, and increase control.
Stakeholder engagement and end-user training are essential functions, as you will be responsible for driving adoption of new systems and cultivating a culture of ownership and accountability regarding material control throughout the organization. The Inventory Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, supply chain, production, and finance, to ensure the success of inventory management initiatives and operational excellence.
This position requires proof of U.S. Citizenship and a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Business Administration, along with at least 5 to 10 years of relevant experience. Candidates should demonstrate experience working in manufacturing, defense, aerospace, or similarly regulated environments, and have a strong background in ERP/MRP systems, physical warehouse controls, audit readiness, and DoD-style accountability. Prior experience building or overhauling inventory or material management systems and leading cross-functional implementations is highly desired.
Physical requirements include the ability to sit for extended periods, participate in meetings and telecoms, lift or move up to 50 lbs., and use stairs for access between floors and buildings during travel to customer sites and company facilities.
Invariant Corporation is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or veteran status. Invariant is a drug-free workplace. This position is expected to be performed only in the state of Alabama. Subject to the provisions of Code of Alabama § 40-18-370, the Company shall give good faith consideration to Alabama residents for employment at the Project.
