The Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (IR RN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care within a dynamic and fast-paced procedural environment. This position is designed for nursing professionals who possess exceptional clinical expertise and the ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities. As an essential member of the Interventional Radiology team, the IR RN works collaboratively with physicians, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes throughout interventional procedures.
This full-time opportunity is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least two years of clinical experience, who is committed to upholding the highest standards of patient safety and procedural excellence. The role requires an active, unencumbered RN license—either issued by Texas or through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)—and current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications. Previous experience in Interventional Radiology is strongly preferred, as it enables the IR RN to anticipate procedural needs, respond effectively to emerging clinical situations, and support the team during complex interventions.
The IR RN will be responsible for preparing patients for procedures, monitoring patient status during interventions, administering medications, and providing post-procedural care and education. The ability to maintain composure, communicate clearly, and follow detailed protocols is essential for success in this setting. The ideal candidate is also comfortable with electronic medical record systems, specifically Epic, and can adapt to evolving workflows as needed.
Working as an IR RN offers the chance to build advanced skills in interventional care while engaging with multidisciplinary teams in a supportive environment. The schedule typically consists of eight-hour shifts, five days per week, with a rotating on-call requirement that includes weekends. Flexibility in scheduling is available to accommodate both departmental and personal needs. Hospital-laundered scrubs are provided, and the dress code allows for any color, supporting both comfort and individual preference.
