Insurance Legal Counsel - Summary
- Serve as the primary legal resource for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contract provisions for new annuity products.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Draft and review contract language for new retail annuity products, ensuring each provision aligns with current legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, manage, and oversee project timelines for insurance product submissions, clearly communicating expectations and milestones to stakeholders.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of state insurance laws and guidelines set forth by the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission, supporting innovative product development strategies.
- Represent the organization in communications with state regulators, negotiating and responding to objections to expedite product approvals.
- Collaborate with internal marketing and compliance teams to ensure that all consumer advertising materials are consistent with contract terms and legal obligations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of regulated forms, leveraging technology and best practices for document management.
- Utilize experience with SERFF and insurance administration platforms to optimize the product submission and approval process.

Qualifications & Requirements
- More than seven years of experience in the annuity and/or life insurance sector, with at least three years spent in a legal, compliance, or product development capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance industry products, regulatory standards, and evolving legal frameworks.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively with diverse teams and regulatory bodies.
- Proficiency in the use of SERFF, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, and other relevant software tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
