This role is ideal for board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrists who are passionate about supporting adults managing both addiction and mental health diagnoses. As an Inpatient Psychiatrist, you will join a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. The inpatient unit features 22 beds and is staffed by a robust support team, including nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and psychiatric technicians. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with no weekend or on-call requirements, ensuring a healthy work-life balance. The daily patient census ranges from 10 to 12 adults, allowing for focused, individualized treatment and consistent patient engagement.
Primary responsibilities include evaluating, diagnosing, and treating adult patients, many of whom present with both addiction and other psychiatric disorders. Some patients without addiction histories may also be admitted, broadening the clinical experience for the psychiatrist. The average length of patient stay is between 7 and 10 days, providing the opportunity to make a meaningful impact throughout the course of treatment. The facility utilizes the EPIC electronic medical records (EMR) system, streamlining documentation and care coordination.
This position values board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry, and having a Suboxone (buprenorphine) certification is considered a valuable asset, given the patient population's needs. An active Connecticut state medical license is required for consideration. The facility provides comprehensive credentialing support, with a typical timeline of 30 to 60 days for full privileges. Additionally, all necessary travel arrangements are covered by the facility, ensuring a smooth transition into the role.
