Inpatient Pharmacist (PharmD/RPh) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform a comprehensive range of inpatient pharmacy procedures in accordance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Deliver pharmaceutical services within the hospital’s personnel, supply, and equipment capabilities.
- Counsel patients on appropriate medication use, addressing questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Thoroughly review patient profiles at the time of dispensing to closely monitor and manage medication therapy.
- Assess prescription directions, dosages, potential medication interactions, duplications, overlaps, and age-specific requirements to ensure patient safety.
- Intervene with healthcare providers as needed to address discrepancies or concerns related to medication therapy or documentation.
- Compound medications as required, adhering to established quality and safety standards.
- Oversee the accuracy of all pharmaceutical products prepared or processed by technical staff.
- Supervise inventory control of all pharmaceuticals, with special attention to scheduled medications.
- Maintain records and security of all controlled substances, following applicable federal, state, and facility regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college or university.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted pharmacist license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- Documented experience as an inpatient or outpatient pharmacist within the past 36 months (at least 1 year preferred).
- U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
