Indirect Tax Analyst - Summary
- Serves as a subject matter expert in indirect tax compliance and audit support.
- Ensures accuracy and timeliness in the preparation and submission of all indirect tax returns, including sales and use tax, business licenses, and related filings.
- Maintains meticulous record-keeping practices for tax exemption certificates and related financial documentation.
- Supports internal and external audits by providing required documentation and responding to auditor requests.
- Collaborates with internal departments and external regulatory bodies to resolve tax-related issues.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain the indirect tax compliance process, ensuring all business license files and sales tax audit support activities are up to date.
- Assist with the management and verification of customer tax exemption certificates, ensuring accurate record retention and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare, process, and file original and amended indirect tax returns and facilitate timely payments to meet all filing deadlines.
- Communicate professionally and clearly with state and local taxing authorities, branch locations, and internal cross-functional teams to resolve tax issues and respond to queries.
- Support audit processes by providing documentation and information to state auditors as needed.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of tax filing and documentation management.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel and other Office applications to analyze tax data, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and generate reports as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the tax department to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications & Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; additional education in accounting or finance is a plus.
- At least one year of experience in indirect tax accounting or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated analytical skills, with the ability to compute complex rates, ratios, and percentages accurately.
- Experience with Vertex Series O and Vertex Returns Software is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks of moderate complexity simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional approach to internal and external correspondence.
