Assembly Technician - Summary
The Assembly Technician plays a critical role in providing in-store assembly services for a wide range of retail products, including grills, lawn mowers, patio furniture, bikes, outdoor storage sheds, and more. Working as a contractor with M&C Assemblies, the Assembly Technician is responsible for efficiently and accurately assembling merchandise directly in major retail stores. Duties & Responsibilities
- Assemble a variety of retail products inside major stores, such as grills, BBQ equipment, lawn mowers, outdoor power tools, patio furniture, wheelbarrows, outdoor storage sheds, bikes, and similar large items.
- Ensure all items are assembled efficiently, correctly, and in a timely manner according to manufacturer specifications and store guidelines.
- Use personal tools, including an 18V cordless impact driver or drill, deep metric sockets, Allen/hex bit sets, cutting pliers, screwdrivers, adjustable wrench, box cutter, and rubber mallet, to complete assembly tasks.
- Document completed work by taking photos and using a smartphone app for scanning and invoicing.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and quality in all assemblies to meet or exceed company standards and customer expectations.
- Manage and organize assembly assignments, prioritizing punctuality and reliability for each shift.
- Utilize a self-scheduling system to set your own availability and maximize work-life balance.
- Engage in ongoing communication with M&C Assemblies management and retail partners to ensure seamless operations and high customer satisfaction.
Salary & Benefits
- Performance-based compensation with average earnings of $20 per hour; top performers can achieve the equivalent of $60 per hour or more, based on the quantity and quality of completed assemblies.
- No cap on earnings; the more efficiently and accurately you assemble, the more you earn.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Physically capable of lifting and handling items weighing 50 pounds or more on a repetitive basis.
- Access to reliable personal transportation to travel to and from assigned retail locations.
- Ownership of a smartphone with a functioning camera for documentation, scanning, and invoicing through the company's app.
- Possession of a comprehensive set of personal tools necessary for large-item assembly, including but not limited to:
- 18V cordless impact driver or drill (strongly preferred)
- Deep metric sockets
- Allen/hex bit set
- Cutting pliers
- Multiple screwdrivers
- Adjustable wrench
- Box cutter/utility knife
- Rubber mallet
- Mechanically inclined and able to learn and follow detailed assembly instructions.
- Commitment to punctuality and reliability; on-time check-ins are critical for commission increases and assignment opportunities.
- No formal experience required, but a strong work ethic and readiness to perform physical tasks are essential.
