ICU Registered Nurse (ICU RN) - Summary
- Provide expert nursing care to critically ill patients in an Intensive Care Unit setting
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other health professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Promote patient safety through vigilant assessment, timely interventions, and adherence to evidence-based protocols
Duties & Responsibilities
- Medication Administration: Safely administer complex medications, titrate vasoactive drips, and follow strict protocols for intravenous and oral medication delivery.
- Emergency Response: Respond rapidly to medical emergencies, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and initiate Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) protocols to stabilize patients.
- Care Planning: Develop, implement, and frequently revise individualized patient care plans in collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to meet evolving patient needs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, clear, and concise patient records and reports in accordance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
- Patient & Family Support: Educate patients and families regarding care plans, procedures, and expected outcomes; provide emotional support and facilitate effective communication between all parties involved.
- Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive head-to-toe assessments, continuously monitor vital signs, interpret laboratory results, and promptly identify and communicate subtle changes in patient status.
- Equipment Management: Set up, operate, and monitor advanced life support equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, and invasive lines to ensure optimal patient care.
- Multi-Unit Flexibility: Demonstrate adaptability by floating to the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) as needed to support patient care and staffing needs.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of two years of acute care nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification on file in Department of Education
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification as required for acute care facilities
- Minimum of one year travel nursing experience
- Willingness and ability to float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) as needed
