The HVAC Maintenance Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring the longevity, reliability, and efficiency of residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. As a valued team member at Advantage Heating & Air, you will deliver high-quality maintenance services to VIP program members and recurring customers by performing routine maintenance, system tune-ups, and detailed inspections. This full-time position is essential for fostering customer loyalty, reducing system breakdowns, and identifying potential service and upgrade opportunities, all while upholding the company's commitment to outstanding customer experience and satisfaction.
As an HVAC Maintenance Technician, you are often the primary point of contact for our customers, representing the company with professionalism and technical expertise during every visit. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough seasonal maintenance on a variety of HVAC systems such as furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioning units, and ductless mini-splits. You will follow comprehensive company checklists to ensure each system operates safely and efficiently, replacing filters, cleaning components, and testing system performance as part of routine service visits.
A significant part of your role involves systematically inspecting HVAC systems to identify any wear-and-tear, emerging safety concerns, or potential failure points. Accurate documentation is crucial; you will use field service software to record your findings, including detailed notes and photos. When issues are detected, you will communicate your recommendations for repairs or upgrades directly to customers in a transparent and non-pressurized manner, supporting both service technicians and the sales team in delivering holistic solutions.
Customer experience is central to the HVAC Maintenance Technician role. During each maintenance visit, you will educate homeowners on the condition of their systems, discuss the importance of regular maintenance, and reinforce the benefits of the VIP membership program. Building rapport and trust with customers encourages long-term relationships and generates referrals, contributing to the growth of both the company and your own career.
Operational communication is another critical aspect of the HVAC Maintenance Technician position. You will maintain real-time contact with dispatch to keep schedules running smoothly, accurately tracking your time, materials used, and job completion details. Timely and complete communication ensures jobs are documented correctly for follow-up, payroll, and reporting, while also facilitating efficient scheduling and prompt updates in the event of delays or changes.
Supporting the VIP membership program is an ongoing responsibility. You will conduct maintenance visits aligned with membership agreements, proactively identify memberships that are expiring, and communicate with customers to support renewals. By demonstrating the tangible benefits of program participation, you help retain customers and ensure their systems remain in prime condition year-round.
To excel as an HVAC Maintenance Technician, you should have prior experience in residential HVAC maintenance or service, possess a strong attention to detail, and be adept at following established processes. Effective communication and customer service skills are essential, alongside proficiency in using tablets and field service management software like ServiceTitan. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required, as the role often requires independent travel to customer locations.
Success in this position is measured by the consistent delivery of high-quality maintenance, thorough and accurate system inspections, strong rapport with customers, and the ability to identify and communicate potential service or sales opportunities. Reducing callbacks and missed issues during maintenance is a key indicator of strong performance.
The compensation structure for the HVAC Maintenance Technician role typically includes an hourly rate during the initial training period, followed by a transition to performance-based pay. This structure rewards technicians who deliver exceptional service, uphold company values, and contribute to customer retention and satisfaction.
