The HVAC Lead Installer plays a pivotal role in bringing high-quality heating, ventilation, and air conditioning solutions into customers’ homes. As the key point of contact during residential HVAC system installations, the HVAC Lead Installer ensures that every project meets or exceeds industry standards for safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This position is essential for turning design specifications and sales promises into tangible comfort solutions that last for years. Working as a full-time team member, the HVAC Lead Installer provides hands-on leadership, technical expertise, and outstanding service, making a direct impact on client relationships and the reputation of the company.

Advantage Heating & Air seeks an experienced HVAC Lead Installer with a deep understanding of residential system installations, including furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioning (AC), and ductless mini-split units. In this role, you will lead every aspect of the installation process, from conducting pre-installation walkthroughs with homeowners to commissioning the completed system for optimal performance. You will be responsible for supervising and mentoring an installation helper or apprentice, ensuring all work is performed safely and in compliance with local codes, manufacturer guidelines, and company policies.

The HVAC Lead Installer manages every detail of installations, including ductwork fabrication and modification, gas piping, and electrical wiring. You will perform comprehensive system startups, test refrigerant charge, and airflow, and verify correct sequence of operation to ensure the highest quality results. Customer communication is a central part of this position; you will educate clients on system operation, answer their questions, and leave each job site clean and ready for immediate use.

Organizational skills are critical, as the HVAC Lead Installer is responsible for maintaining detailed documentation of each project. This includes capturing equipment model and serial numbers, completing commissioning reports, and uploading photos and records into the company’s CRM system, such as ServiceTitan. You will track materials, job status, and time spent, ensuring all digital records are accurate and up to date. Coordination with warehouse, dispatch, and sales teams ensures that each installation proceeds without unnecessary delays and that changes in scope are addressed promptly and professionally.

Safety and site management are top priorities. The HVAC Lead Installer maintains a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment at every job site. You will take proactive steps to protect customer property, such as using drop cloths and shoe covers, and ensure that all tools and materials are properly stored and maintained. You will also play a role in scheduling and preparing for final inspections with local authorities to guarantee quick and successful project sign-offs.

To excel in this role, candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience in HVAC installation, particularly in residential changeouts and retrofit environments. An EPA Certification (preferably Universal) is required, along with a strong command of electrical systems, gas piping, airflow dynamics, and refrigeration principles. Demonstrated leadership ability and a track record of mentoring less-experienced team members are highly valued. Experience using CRM systems, such as ServiceTitan, and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record are also important qualifications.

Success in the HVAC Lead Installer position is measured by the quality of installation work, efficiency in project completion, customer satisfaction, and accurate documentation. The ideal candidate consistently delivers installations with zero failed inspections and minimal callbacks, meets or exceeds labor hour budgets, and earns high customer satisfaction ratings. Effective communication with homeowners and team members, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential.

Advantage Heating & Air values the HVAC Lead Installer’s dedication and craftsmanship, recognizing that this role is crucial to ensuring families experience long-term comfort and safety.
