The HVAC Estimator plays a critical role in the successful execution of HVAC projects, focusing on precise cost analysis and project planning within the building automation and mechanical systems sector. As an HVAC Estimator, you will utilize advanced computer estimating systems and industry-specific software to develop accurate estimates for plan/spec and design/build HVAC projects. Your expertise in maintaining detailed estimating logs and monitoring unit costs will ensure that each project remains on track, both financially and operationally. Building strong vendor relationships is essential, as these partnerships contribute to the timely and efficient procurement of materials and services necessary for each project phase.
In this position, you will regularly conduct site surveys and participate in pre-bid walkthroughs to gain a comprehensive understanding of project requirements and constraints. Your collaborative approach will see you closely aligned with sales and project management teams, making certain that all projects are delivered within budget and according to client specifications. The HVAC Estimator must be skilled in reading blueprints and construction documents, as well as knowledgeable about various HVAC systems and components. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications is vital to your daily responsibilities, supporting effective communication and coordination across departments.
You will demonstrate strong verbal and written communication abilities, allowing you to clearly convey technical information and coordinate multi-trade estimates. An associate’s degree in business or engineering is required, along with 2-5 years of proven estimating experience in the HVAC industry. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not mandatory. HVAC Estimator - Summary
- Responsible for developing accurate cost estimates for HVAC projects using specialized software and tools.
- Maintains detailed estimating logs and monitors unit costs for all projects.

- Interpret blueprints and other construction documents to inform accurate project estimates.
- Coordinate with related trades to develop complete and thorough project estimates.
- Document all estimations and communications for internal tracking and external reporting purposes.
