The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) plays a pivotal role within the hospital medicine advanced practice provider team at a leading academic teaching facility. As a vital member of a collaborative multidisciplinary group, the Hospitalist NP / PA works closely with physicians, other advanced practice providers, and medical specialists to deliver exceptional acute care to general medicine patients. The Hospitalist NP / PA is responsible for independently managing a cohort of 7-9 acute care patients per shift using an APP-forward model that is supported by a team of experienced physicians. The role primarily consists of patient rounding but may also require admitting responsibilities based on census and admission volume. The ideal candidate will be adept at synthesizing clinical information, forming differential diagnoses, and implementing safe, evidence-based treatment plans. The Hospitalist NP / PA will be empowered to prescribe therapies, monitor responses, adjust treatment strategies, and ensure seamless transitions of care. Communication and collaboration are essential, as the Hospitalist NP / PA will engage with patients, families, nurses, and a broad spectrum of healthcare professionals to facilitate optimal care delivery.
Participation in quality improvement and process optimization initiatives is highly valued within this hospitalist team. With a flexible schedule of four ten-hour shifts per week and rotating weekend coverage, this position offers a balanced work-life experience without night shift obligations.
