Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary
The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) is responsible for delivering expert inpatient care to patients with hematologic and oncologic malignancies as well as a broad spectrum of acute and chronic conditions. Working collaboratively under physician supervision, you will conduct comprehensive assessments, devise and execute care plans, and support patients and their families throughout the hospitalization process. This full-time role requires excellence in communication, clinical decision-making, and interdisciplinary teamwork within a hospital medicine setting in Atlanta, Georgia.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient care for patients with cancer and other complex medical conditions, including comprehensive history-taking, physical exams, and therapeutic care planning.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses, ensuring accurate and timely interventions consistent with hospital protocols and evidence-based practices.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications, ordering therapies, and coordinating with other providers.
- Perform or assist with laboratory, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures as needed for patient care.
- Educate patients and their families about procedures, medications, treatment side effects, self-management, and available community resources.
- Manage symptoms and treatment-related toxicities, facilitating patient comfort and quality of life throughout their hospital stay.
- Lead or support discussions regarding goals of care, including end-of-life decision-making, always ensuring compassionate and patient-centered communication.
- Maintain open, effective communication with supervising and attending physicians, escalating cases as appropriate and collaborating on complex clinical decisions.
- Coordinate with referring clinicians, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless transitions of care.
- Demonstrate ongoing professional growth through participation in continuing education, team meetings, and independent study.
- Document all patient encounters, plans, and outcomes accurately and in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current and valid licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C).
- Board certification required.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) for NP or master's degree in Physician Assistant studies for PA-C.
- Experience in hospital medicine and/or oncology preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary hospital environment.
- Strong assessment, clinical, and communication skills.
