Hospitalist (MD/DO) - Summary
- Provide direct care to hospitalized patients, overseeing the entire inpatient process from admission through discharge.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Work 12-hour shifts in a 7 on/7 off schedule, providing consistent and reliable care for inpatients.
- Conduct comprehensive patient histories, physical examinations, and medical record reviews.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostics as needed.
- Develop, implement, and adjust treatment plans in accordance with best practices and patient needs.
- Provide clear explanations of medical procedures, diagnoses, and plans of care to patients and families.
- Manage all aspects of inpatient care including rounding, admissions, discharges, and consultations.
- Document all patient care activities thoroughly using the EPIC electronic medical records system.
- Collaborate closely with fellow physicians, nurses, specialists, and support staff to coordinate care.
- Participate in departmental meetings, continuing medical education, and training sessions as required.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and uphold ethical standards in internal medicine practice.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Successful completion of an accredited residency program in internal medicine or related field.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a valid medical license in the State of New Mexico.
- Demonstrated proficiency in inpatient medicine and hospital operations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with patients and healthcare teams.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems, ideally EPIC.
