Heavy Equipment Operator - Summary
- Responsible for operating heavy machinery on residential and commercial job sites.
- Supports installation, repair, and site preparation projects.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate excavators, skid steers, trenchers, and other heavy equipment for plumbing and utility projects.
- Perform trenching, grading, backfilling, and site preparation work to support various job requirements.
- Assist with equipment placement, material handling, and overall site coordination alongside plumbing crews.
- Conduct thorough pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment, reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Follow all safety protocols, job specifications, and regulatory requirements to maintain a secure work environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored and accounted for.
- Communicate effectively with crew leaders, project managers, and other team members to ensure smooth workflow.
- Support field operations with general labor tasks when equipment is not in active use.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction, utilities, or plumbing environments.
- Proficiency in operating excavators and skid steers is required.
- Strong understanding of excavation safety, trenching requirements, and underground utility awareness.
- Ability to read site plans and follow layout instructions accurately.
- Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and job site safety practices.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshooting is a plus.
- Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions and job site environments.
- Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb, bend, squat, and work on uneven terrain.
- Able to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
