Health Information Technician (HIT) - Summary- Full-time position focused on managing and processing patient health information.
- Work in a healthcare setting utilizing advanced electronic medical record systems such as EPIC/ROI.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all relevant privacy regulations.
- Act as a resource for internal and external stakeholders regarding health information procedures.
- Receive, review, and prioritize requests for patient health information from multiple sources, including healthcare professionals, legal representatives, and patients.
- Process medical records requests using the EPIC Release of Information (ROI) module, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Educate customers and internal staff on HIPAA and data confidentiality requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support information requests and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain a high standard of data accuracy, consistently meeting or exceeding a 95% processing accuracy goal.
- Ensure all activities adhere to federal and state regulations governing the release and management of health information.

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience processing medical record requests in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency with EPIC Release of Information (ROI) module, with the ability to explain and utilize its features in detail.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and data privacy regulations.
- Skilled in data entry and proficient with PDF applications, including Kofax.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented professional with a proven track record in health information management.
- Experienced in using electronic medical record systems, especially EPIC/ROI.
- Strong understanding of privacy laws and commitment to data confidentiality.
- Collaborative team player with excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet accuracy standards in a fast-paced environment.
