Health Informatics Director - Summary
- Lead the development, optimization, and management of health informatics systems, with a primary focus on EMR platforms such as AthenaHealth.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Analyze current clinical workflows and digital tool utilization to identify inefficiencies, training needs, and areas for improvement.
- Direct the configuration and optimization of the Athena EMR system and other healthcare IT tools in accordance with best practices and compliance standards.
- Manage, mentor, and support EMR Managers and related staff to ensure effective use and adoption of health information technologies.
- Develop and maintain automated processes and data reports that support documentation completeness, accurate coding, and timely risk score capture.
- Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs for clinicians and staff to promote skillful use of digital clinical tools.
- Enhance patient engagement by improving patient portal functionality and supporting staff in promoting its adoption.
- Collaborate with IT, clinical leadership, and vendors to plan and implement system improvements, upgrades, and updates.
- Track usage metrics, gather stakeholder feedback, and recommend ongoing enhancements for continuous improvement of health informatics systems.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement new digital tools to increase efficiency and improve patient outcomes, incorporating input from diverse stakeholders.
- Oversee clinical data management and reporting, including system integration projects to facilitate seamless data exchange between partner systems.
- Create clinical dashboards and reports that inform decision-making and monitor care quality.
- Ensure organizational compliance with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and uphold documentation standards.
- Coordinate UDS clinical and operational data integrity processes, including annual reporting, data gathering, and validation.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Public Health, Nursing, or a related discipline required; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience in health informatics, clinical systems management, or healthcare IT, with demonstrated expertise in EMR optimization and digital health tools.
- Proven track record of leading clinical technology projects, workflow improvements, and change management in healthcare settings.
- Advanced knowledge of EMR systems, particularly AthenaHealth or similar platforms, including configuration, reporting, and user training.
- Proficiency in clinical data reporting, dashboard creation, and integration tools such as Excel and Power BI.
- Experience with UDS reporting, risk score capture, quality improvement, coding support, and regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA, HEDIS, CMS quality measures).
- Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability standards and digital tool evaluation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience in training delivery and end-user support.
- Prior work with community health, federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), or value-based care models highly preferred.
