Grinder Operator - Summary
- Operate grinding machinery to fabricate and finish landing gear components.
- Work with various machines including Gap Grinders, O/D Grinders, I/D Grinders, and Flat/Surface Grinders.
- Ensure all parts meet exacting standards for dimensional and visual quality.
- Collaborate with team members to support production and quality goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate grinding equipment on high-strength steel and aluminum parts.
- Run one or more machines as required by daily production needs.
- Inspect finished components visually and with precision measurement tools to ensure compliance with shop planning specifications.
- Perform clean-up operations such as deburring and breaking edges to remove defects within specified limits.
- Read and follow blueprints, shop travelers, OHM/CMM reports, and sketches to guide work processes.
- Identify different plated surfaces, including chrome, nickel, cadmium, and thermal sprayed coatings.
- Use inspection tools such as micrometers, dial bore gauges, telescope gauges, height gauges, and indicators to verify part dimensions.
- Maintain proper machine setup, loading, and adjustments for optimal operation.
- Follow safety and quality protocols consistently throughout all stages of the grinding process.
