Fire Protection Engineer, PE Overview
As a Fire Protection Engineer, PE, you will play a vital role in delivering advanced fire protection solutions for diverse markets, including higher education, healthcare, industrial, entertainment, commercial, laboratory, municipal, and federal sectors. This full-time position, based in Long Beach, CA, is with an established, internationally recognized engineering firm known for its expertise in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology integration. Responsibilities
- Lead the design of fire sprinkler systems, fire alarms, and specialized suppression systems for medium to large-scale projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing client satisfaction, resource allocation, budgeting, and quality control to deliver high-quality fire protection engineering services.
- Provide comprehensive fire and life safety consulting services for both new construction and existing buildings, supporting clients in meeting regulatory and safety requirements.
- Serve as a technical advisor for both the fire protection group and multidisciplinary engineering teams, offering guidance on best practices and technical solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, supporting their professional development and ensuring the integrity of project deliverables.
- Conduct site assessments and prepare detailed reports, identifying potential risks and recommending effective fire safety strategies.
- Develop advanced engineering analyses that may include smoke control, combustible dust, energy storage systems, and hazardous materials evaluations, contributing to the safety and resilience of client facilities.
- Support business development activities by building client relationships, identifying project opportunities, and participating in marketing efforts.
- Prepare new project fee proposals, working closely with clients and internal stakeholders to define project scopes and budgets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- At least 15 years of experience in fire life safety code consulting or fire suppression/fire alarm system design.
- Active Professional Engineering (PE) license, demonstrating expertise in fire protection engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of the fire protection consulting industry, including system design, relevant codes, plan reviews, and construction administration.
- Proven project management skills with a record of successfully delivering complex projects.
- Experience in business development and the preparation of technical and fee proposals.
- US Citizenship is required for this role.
