Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the design of fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and special suppression systems
- Develop fire protection system layouts and construction documents
- Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems and fire alarm calculations
- Conduct analysis of local and national Fire and Building Codes
- Implement NFPA standards and ensure compliance with California Building and Fire Codes
- Assist in engineering analyses related to smoke control, hazardous materials, combustible dust, and energy storage systems
- Conduct site assessments and prepare technical reports
- Respond to RFIs during construction, review contractor submittals, and participate in construction support activities including punch walks
- Collaborate with senior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 3–6 years of experience in fire suppression and/or fire alarm system design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- Experience with AutoSPRINK or HydraCALC sprinkler calculation software
- Strong understanding of relevant Building and Fire Codes, including NFPA standards
- EIT certification and/or NICET Fire Sprinkler or Fire Alarm certification preferred
- U.S. Citizenship preferred
- Experience with healthcare or federal projects and exposure to project management or business development is a plus
