The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) – Women's Health utilizes advanced theoretical and practical knowledge to address the unique health needs of women, including reproductive and gynecologic care, through all stages of life. Responsibilities encompass obtaining and documenting detailed health histories, performing comprehensive and symptom-directed physical exams, identifying and diagnosing gynecologic deviations, and managing patient care plans. The practitioner will order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, perform specialized procedures such as cervical cytologic screening, endometrial biopsies, and IUD insertions, and prescribe appropriate therapies tailored to individual patient circumstances, including consideration for pregnancy and lactation.
In addition to direct patient care, the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) – Women's Health ensures compliance with regulatory standards and best practices, adhering to all established policies and procedures. The FNP is expected to demonstrate proficiency in electronic medical records management, including the use of systems such as MHS Genesis, MEDPROS, MRRS, and ASIMS. The position demands a commitment to professional development through participation in orientation, competency verification, and training programs. The practitioner will also contribute to staff education, committee participation, and quality improvement projects.
Physical requirements include periods of walking, standing, sitting, and bending. The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) – Women's Health must notify supervisors in advance of any planned absences and adhere to all organizational guidelines regarding credentialing, privileging, and professional conduct. An annual physical examination is required, and all providers must maintain current, unrestricted licensure and certifications, including a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner certification from the National Certification Corporation (NCC). The role requires a thorough understanding of growth and development, disease pathophysiology, pharmacology, and the unique aspects of women's health from adolescence through adulthood.
