Extrusion Operator - Summary
- Operate and maintain extrusion machinery to produce quality products according to specifications.
- Monitor and troubleshoot equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Work collaboratively with other production team members to achieve manufacturing objectives.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all established safety policies and procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Locate and review work orders and specification sheets to determine required materials and measurements for each production run.
- Set up, calibrate, and test extrusion equipment at the start of each shift, ensuring proper pressure, speed, and temperature are maintained.
- Monitor and visually inspect components during and after production to ensure quality standards are met, making adjustments as necessary.
- Perform regular machine maintenance, including screen changes and cleaning, using appropriate tools and solutions.
- Prepare for changeovers by organizing materials and assigning lot numbers as needed.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to address complications or malfunctions as they arise.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to report and resolve equipment issues in a timely manner.
- Make repairs and replace faulty components to maintain equipment efficiency and safety.
- Install and adjust cutters, molds, and other equipment parts to optimize machine operation.
- Adhere to company policies regarding quality assurance and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Support housekeeping initiatives to maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned in response to business requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience operating and troubleshooting extrusion machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with press and rotogravure printing processes.
- Knowledge of adhesives, inks, resins, dies, and related materials used in extrusion.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, specification sheets, and technical documents.
- Understanding of measurements, temperatures, viscosity, and material handling requirements.
- Awareness of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Industrial Vehicle Operator (IVO) Certification Training, or willingness to obtain certification.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and equipment monitoring.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
